The bank is now looking for a Specialist Actuarial Data Scientist to join its dynamic team in Johannesburg under a hybrid work arrangement.
About the Role
As a Specialist Actuarial Data Scientist, you’ll be part of a team driving the integration of actuarial science and data-driven insights to strengthen Absa’s short-term insurance operations. Your expertise will guide commercial and financial decisions that support sustainable growth and empower clients across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist actuarial support in the design, pricing, and evaluation of insurance products.
- Apply advanced data science techniques to optimize actuarial models and decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with Absa’s risk management and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide ongoing administrative and operational support in line with standard procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data innovation and improve business performance.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 5 years of actuarial experience, preferably within the short-term insurance industry.
- At least 12 actuarial exams passed.
- Strong background in actuarial pricing and data science.
- A Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.
