VIP Security Officer

Opportunity Overview

Hollywoodbets, a dynamic and rapidly expanding brand across Africa and the UK, is seeking highly vigilant and professional individuals to join our Purple Team as VIP Security Officers. Based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, this role is essential in creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests and team members. The VIP Security Officer is responsible for loss and theft prevention, premises security, and upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Security, Vigilance, and Operations

• Opening & Closing Procedures: Arrive 15 minutes before the branch opens. Conduct a perimeter patrol and check for suspicious movements before the branch is opened by the Manager/Senior Team Leader. Maintain extreme vigilance during opening and closing, including positioning one officer away from the entrance to observe and check for potential danger.
• Patrolling & Monitoring: Secure the premises by monitoring surveillance equipment (where applicable) and conducting regular floor walks and patrols of the branch entrance, back areas, and all parking areas.
• Access & Search Control: Operate the scanner to search all guests and team members entering the branch. Ensure the branch door/gate at the searching zone is always kept closed. Adhere strictly to the cross-gender scanning prohibition (Male guests by Male officers, Female guests by Female officers). Search female bags with a stick; male guests are not permitted to bring bags onto the premises.
• Communication & Equipment: Ensure all two-way radios and panic buttons are functional, fully charged, and safely secured. Officers must carry panic buttons, two-way radios, and earpieces for open communication during emergencies. Immediately report any faulty equipment.
• Traffic Management: Direct and control the free flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the premises.
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to all company policies, including dress code (full Amadoda uniform with name badge, black shoes, black socks, and white vest only). Submit a daily report every morning by 10:00 am.

Guest Service & Compliance

• First Impressions: Serve as the forefront of the brand, making a positive first impression by greeting guests with “Good day, welcome to Hollywood.”
• Service Excellence: Provide friendly, helpful, polite, and courteous service at all times. Proactively address guest complaints and ensure feedback is communicated effectively and positively.
• Prohibited Items & Activities: Ensure strict enforcement of policies prohibiting weapons/guns (except for official law enforcement), persons under the age of 18, and bags (for male guests) on the premises.
• Incident Management: If dealing with a difficult customer, contact colleagues and activate the panic button before the situation escalates.
• Regulatory Compliance: Be observant for any suspicious activity, including guests leaving without objects they entered with. Prohibit taking credit bets and ensure officers on duty do not take bets or utilize Limited Payout Machines (LPMs).

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Registration: Must be currently Registered with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority).
• Code of Conduct: Must adhere to a strict on-duty code of conduct, including refraining from sitting, lounging, cell phone use, smoking, eating, accepting tips, and reporting for duty under the influence of alcohol.
• Physical Fitness: Must maintain physical fitness in line with job requirements.

Desirable Attributes (Bonus to Have)

• Experience: Previous Security experience.
• Mobility: A Valid driver’s license.
