As a Data Scientist I at FNB, you will be at the forefront of implementing innovative quantitative analytical methodologies. Your primary mission will be to plan, build, optimize, and implement advanced mathematical models and analytical solutions that directly address business problems and opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Pioneering Solutions: Developing and applying analytical algorithms and methods to build, test, and implement advanced mathematical models.
• Driving Business Value: Translating complex business requirements into high-impact models that lead to improved business outcomes, such as reduced risk and costs, increased profitability, and optimized efficiency.
• Strategic Insight: Providing analytical support and interpreting insights, using advanced analytics technologies, to facilitate strategic decision-making.
• Credit Risk Expertise: Gaining a critical understanding of origination strategies and how various credit risk models affect application scorecards.
• Innovation Mindset: Proactively seeking out innovative solutions and exploring novel architectures, algorithms, and methodologies to stay ahead of the curve.

We are looking for someone with a strong academic foundation and hands-on practical experience who is curious and committed to continuous learning in this fast-evolving field.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum Qualification: A relevant Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in: Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Practical Experience (Minimum 1 Year):
  • Hands-on coding experience in SAS/Python.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and using SQL/SAS tools.
  • Experience with data manipulation, cleaning, and imputation.
• Foundational Knowledge:
  • A solid understanding of foundational machine learning concepts and neural networks.
  • A basic grasp of the working of application scorecards and how credit models are developed.
