Position Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly capable Operations Supervisor to join the Consumer division. This role is critical for coordinating activities, ensuring operational efficiency, and supervising a team to achieve key operational goals.

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for initiating, planning, coordinating, and supervising activities within a terminal/depot. This includes ensuring all customers receive efficient and on-time deliveries, whether by rail, road, or pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the routing and scheduling of delivery vehicles.
• Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with operational staff.
• Hold multiple daily meetings with clients.
• Ensure the fleet is maintained and in optimal condition to handle operational pressures.
• Make sure vehicles undergo roadworthy tests and have valid license discs in a timely manner.
• Perform SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) tasks, including toolbox talks, committee meetings, and inspections.
• Liaise daily with the mechanical workshop, clients, suppliers, and regional/head office management.
• Supervise on-site suppliers.
• Ensure strict compliance with the NBCRFI main agreement.
• Control staff wages and overtime.
• Monitor vehicle fuel consumption and manage the on-site fuel bowser.
• Review Mix Telematics and DriveCam reports and take necessary action.
• Coach staff on DriveCam events and follow up with necessary actions.
• Ensure the optimal utilization of the fleet and staff to meet operational targets.
• Process operational administration accurately and on time.
• Conduct cost control, reviewing quotes and invoices.
• Monitor Cost Per Kilometre (CPK) and review income statements.
• Supervise all day-to-day operational activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: A tertiary qualification (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in Logistics or Transportation Management.
• Experience: A minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience, with at least 2 years in a senior supervisory role within the transport industry.
• Skills & Knowledge:
  • A valid Code EB driver’s license (an EC license is an advantage).
  • Computer literate with advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of the NBCRFI Main Agreement.
  • Technical knowledge of tires and vehicle maintenance.
  • Experience with SHEQ in the transport industry.
  • Familiarity with Mix Telematics and DriveCam systems.
  • An understanding of transport economics and finances.
  • Driven toward achieving production targets and upholding high standards.
  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills to motivate employees.
