What We’re Looking For

We need a dedicated professional who can ensure the integrity of our reinsurance financial data. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of reinsurance accounting principles and the ability to manage complex financial controls and reporting.

To be a good fit, you should have:

• 5+ years of experience in a financial reporting environment.
• At least 2 years of direct experience in a reinsurance accounting role.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A professional qualification like CA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA is a significant advantage.
• A solid understanding of reinsurance treaty structures (e.g., Quota Share, Surplus).
• Hands-on experience with a reinsurance accounting system, with a preference for Sapiens.
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 and SAM.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Reinsurance Accountant, you will be crucial to our finance team’s success. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from month-end close processes to regulatory reporting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Financial Control & Reporting: Prepare and own monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, conduct cash reconciliations, and manage management accounting journals. You’ll also be a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
• Regulatory & Technical Accounting: Prepare and submit R2 statements for the Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) framework and apply accounting standards like IFRS 17 to ensure compliance.
• Business Partnering & Systems: Act as a subject matter expert for the reinsurance team, assist with data visualization initiatives using tools like Power BI, and provide financial input for system upgrades and implementations.
