Job Advertisement: Warehouse Controller

Lactalis is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Controller to join our team at the Bonnievale Plant in the Western Cape, South Africa. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Operations Department, reporting to the Senior Dispatch Coordinator.

About the Role

The Warehouse Controller will be responsible for managing all stock control and dispatching activities within our Finished Goods department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a fast-paced warehouse environment, with a deep understanding of stock management and logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Stock Management:
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of various powders (whey, skim, buttermilk) at both the Bonnievale plant and off-site facilities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely ordering of stock to prevent production delays.
  • Conduct weekly system verification (BPCS, WM9) and monthly physical stock counts, reporting any anomalies.
  • Ensure all stock is dispatched according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and correct specifications.
• Logistics & Administration:
  • Communicate with internal and external clients, transporters, and head office to ensure smooth operations.
  • Liaise with the lab to ensure timely releases and assist with Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
  • Verify accurate invoicing and dispatch documentation for all shipments.
  • Manage CHEP pallet control, including ordering, variance investigations, and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee inventory and loading at off-site warehouses.
• Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure full adherence to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety within the powder stores, including correct stacking heights.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (or equivalent) is essential. An NQF5 qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse or stores environment, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector.
  • Proven knowledge of stock control and stores processes.
  • Working knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems); experience with BPCS and WM9 is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with the Chep Portal.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Assertiveness and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Other:
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Must have a valid Code EB driver’s license.
  • Must be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions.
