Lead the Charge: Join a Leader in Mining as a Senior Project Manager

Are you a seasoned project manager with a passion for the mining industry? Do you excel at leading large-scale, complex projects from conception to completion? We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager to join a leading client in the mining sector.

This contractor role is for an expert who can drive projects to success, ensuring profitability and long-term value creation. Based in Gauteng’s Eastern Suburbs, this position requires you to be hands-on and willing to travel frequently within the area.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll be the linchpin for major mining projects. Your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, including:

• Strategic Planning: You’ll develop detailed project plans and schedules, keeping them updated in line with PMO governance. You’ll also oversee changes to project scope, schedule, and cost using formal change control processes.
• Resource and Budget Management: You’ll coordinate internal resources and external contractors to ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes managing and tracking project costs and conducting site visits.
• Stakeholder Engagement: You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders. Your ability to cultivate these connections will be key to ensuring project profitability and delivering customer value.
• Risk and Quality Control: You’ll implement risk management strategies to minimize project risks and create comprehensive project documentation to support delivery and compliance. You’ll also measure project performance using key KPIs and conduct retrospectives upon completion.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a proactive and highly skilled professional with a deep understanding of the mining industry. You must meet these minimum requirements:

• Education: A Degree in Mining Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydro Metallurgy Engineering.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Management within the mining industry. You must have a proven track record of successfully managing large construction, installation, and process-related projects.
• Expertise: A strong grasp of project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and contract management. Familiarity with PMO governance, project methodologies, and change control processes is essential.
