Calling all Agri Professionals: Are you a Hatchery Manager?

Supreme Poultry has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Hatchery Manager to join our team at our Opti Hatchery in Lichtenburg, North West, South Africa.

If you’re a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the hatchery environment, we want to hear from you. This is a permanent position where you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hatchery, ensuring we produce high-quality, day-old chicks at the right quantity and lowest possible cost.

What you’ll be doing

This role is about more than just managing a facility; it’s about leading a team and optimizing every aspect of the operation. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Operational Management: Overseeing all daily hatchery activities and ensuring production targets are met.
• Team Leadership: Actively managing, mentoring, and training personnel to foster a high-performing team.
• Production & Planning: Managing weekly hatch schedules and planning all egg, transfer, set, and hatch plans.
• Equipment Maintenance: Monitoring facility equipment, and coordinating all necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure peak performance.
• Quality & Safety: Enforcing strict bio-security standards, procedures, and health and safety protocols.
• Logistics: Planning and managing all orders and truck loading to ensure smooth, efficient delivery.

Do you have what it takes?

We’re looking for someone with an advanced skill set and a proven track record. The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a Hatchery Management role.
• A Grade 12 | National Certificate as a minimum, with a tertiary education being a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrable expertise in Hatchery Operations, Poultry Physiology, and Embryology.
• Strong leadership and managerial competencies.
• A keen eye for detail and a systematic, methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Excel and knowledge of hatchery-specific software like Chick Master, Petersime, PasReform, or Eggsactly.
