We’re looking for a dedicated Testing Standards Officer Pilot to join our team in Midrand. What You’ll Be Doing

As a Testing Standards Officer Pilot, you’ll be a key player in maintaining and enhancing the quality of pilot training and licensing. Your responsibilities will be diverse and critical, including:

  • Oversight and Approval: You’ll be responsible for the approval and oversight of Aviation Training Organisations (ATOs) and Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs). You will also review and approve syllabi and curricula to ensure they meet the highest standards.
  • Standards and Regulations: You’ll help develop and implement Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Technical Standards (CATS) to align with international best practices.
  • Monitoring and Enforcement: You will monitor the conduct of pilot instructors and designated examiners and recommend enforcement actions when necessary.
  • Technical Support: You’ll be a vital resource for the industry and other government bodies, providing technical assistance on everything from licensing to accident investigations.
  • Communication and Liaison: You will represent the SACAA professionally at seminars and conferences, and you’ll work directly with the industry to resolve issues and improve standards.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in aviation and a deep understanding of flight training.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 certificate.
  • A Commercial Pilot License with a Grade II Instructor Rating (or equivalent SA Air Force Flight Instructor Rating Category B).
  • A minimum of 300 flight hours.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • An Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • A Grade I Flight Instructor rating or SAAF Grade A Instructor with sound knowledge of training and training administration.

This is a permanent, skilled position with a market-related salary based in Midrand. This is an Employment Equity position, and all successful candidates will be subject to security vetting. The closing date for applications is April 17, 2025.
