Become Our Next Pit Grade Control Production Geologist in the North West! ⛏️
Are you a highly experienced and meticulous geologist with a passion for open-pit mining? We’re looking for a dedicated Pit Grade Control Production Geologist to join our team in the North West. This is a crucial role where you will be responsible for implementing and continuously updating our grade control model, ensuring optimal ore utilization, and contributing to the overall success of our mining operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Pit Grade Control Production Geologist, you’ll be at the heart of our production process. Your expertise will be essential in bridging the gap between geology and mining operations, ensuring that all activities are safe, efficient, and compliant.
Key responsibilities include:
- Grade Control and Pit Geology: Continuously reviewing and updating the grade control model with in-pit data, monitoring blasting and post-digging activities, and scheduling Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling programs.
- Reconciliation: Reconciling estimated plant feed against actual feed, and reconciling grade control models and ore types to ensure corrective actions are taken to achieve planned grades.
- Database Management: Capturing relevant geological data into the Grade Control Database and conducting quality audits on samples to ensure accuracy.
- Reporting: Providing daily, weekly, and monthly inputs for mining geology reports to keep decision-makers informed.
- Compliance and Safety: Conducting geological plan task observations (PTOs) to identify and correct substandard conditions, and liaising with mining personnel to ensure adherence to all geological-mining instructions.
- Stakeholder Relations: Communicating with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned on departmental objectives and to prevent work duplication.
Who We’re Looking For
We need a proactive and highly skilled professional with a strong geological background and hands-on experience in open-pit mining.
Minimum requirements:
- Qualifications: A Grade 12 and a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree (NQF8) in Geology. You must also be a member of a professional body (SACNASP).
- Experience: A minimum of 5-8 years of mining experience, with at least 4 years in an open-pit production mining environment. You should also have 3-5 years of experience using geological software like Sable, Datamine Strat3D, Studio EM/RM, Sirovision, or Deswik.
- Skills: A valid driver’s license, computer literacy, and the ability to work in a demanding environment. Experience with Bushveld Complex Geology is advantageous.
Note: Preference will be given to female candidates for this role.
Ready to Apply?
If you are a talented and motivated geologist who is ready to take on this challenging and rewarding permanent position, we encourage you to apply.
The application deadline is August 27, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a lasting impact on our mining operations and grow your career.
