Shape the Future of Legal Research: Senior Faculty Librarian – Law at Stellenbosch University
Are you a passionate and experienced librarian with a specialization in law and a knack for innovation? Stellenbosch University’s Library and Information Service is seeking a dedicated Senior Faculty Librarian to join our team on the Stellenbosch Campus. This is a unique opportunity to provide vital research support and information services to our vibrant academic community.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Senior Faculty Librarian for Law, you’ll be at the heart of our academic support system. Your primary role will be to empower students, faculty, and other clients by providing specialized, personalized, and virtual information services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized information services and research support, with a focus on Law and Tax at the School of Accountancy.
- Providing digital and information literacy skills training and developing e-learning programs.
- Managing collection development, ensuring the library’s resources are comprehensive and up-to-date.
- Building strong relationships with the Faculty, stakeholders on campus, and colleagues at other institutions.
- Leading and participating in project teams to drive innovation in library services.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a proactive and dynamic individual with a deep understanding of the academic environment and a commitment to service excellence.
Minimum requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with a postgraduate diploma in LIS. A postgraduate qualification is highly recommended.
- Experience: At least five years of experience providing information services and research support in an academic setting.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the academic community’s needs regarding research support.
- Excellent teaching, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong computer proficiency and knowledge of the Windows environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Highly recommended: A law qualification (degree or diploma) and knowledge of electronic legal resources, databases, and search engines.
