Are you a qualified professional scientist with a passion for environmental protection and a knack for managing complex systems? The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for a dedicated Water Quality Manager to join our Water & Sanitation Department. This is a permanent position where you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the safety and quality of our water for all residents.
Your Role: Key Responsibilities and Impact
As the Water Quality Manager, you’ll be on the front line of environmental protection. You will lead, monitor, and control all processes related to water quality. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Managing and controlling laboratory functions and contractors for water quality sampling and environmental monitoring.
- Ensuring the City’s water and industrial effluent meet all legislated quality standards.
- Preparing and delivering reports to meet all regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Developing strategies for governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Managing and optimizing budgeted resources to meet all operational objectives.
- Building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders to ensure compliance.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong scientific background and a commitment to public service. You must be able to lead a team effectively and navigate complex regulatory environments.
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc/B-Tech in Natural Science.
- Registration as a Professional Natural Scientist (Prof.Sci.Nat) related to Water Quality.
- A valid driver’s license.
- 3 years of experience in a similar environment.
What We Offer
This is a permanent position with a highly competitive basic salary ranging from R755,460.00 to R1,036,344.00 per annum, plus benefits. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract, and you’ll be part of a team dedicated to the well-being of the City of Ekurhuleni’s community.
