The Directorate of Economic Development & Strategic Services is seeking a dedicated ICT Technician to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise to support a healthy and stable network platform, directly contributing to effective service delivery for our community.


Your Role and Responsibilities

As an ICT Technician, you will be the backbone of our network infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for managing a wide range of ICT systems and ensuring that all users have the tools and support they need to perform their work efficiently. Your duties will be critical to maintaining a healthy network and achieving our service delivery targets.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Network and Infrastructure Management: Overseeing the ICT helpdesk, managing servers, and performing network administration to ensure efficient connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Proactively identifying and solving network and user problems to maintain a stable environment and minimize downtime. This includes regular maintenance of ICT equipment, servers, and databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Administration and Planning: Managing and monitoring ICT systems, assisting with emergency plans and disaster recovery policies, and keeping accurate records for future reference.
  • Technical Support: Providing hands-on support for computer and communication network installations and ensuring all tasks are carried out safely.
  • Continuous Improvement: Staying current with the latest Information and Communication Technology trends to ensure our network service is always up-to-date and of the highest quality.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a proactive and independent professional with a strong technical background and a commitment to service excellence.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Grade 12 and a tertiary qualification in A+, Network +, Server +, CCNA, or MCITP.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in ICT and networking, with a proven track record of troubleshooting.
  • Skills: A valid Code B driver’s license, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency in both Afrikaans and English. A Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification is also required.
  • Attributes: We are looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, a focus on service delivery, and the ability to work independently.

Compensation

This is a T13 position with an estimated Cost to Company (CTC) of R714,347.36 per annum. The basic salary ranges from R484,828.78 to R629,339.72 per annum.
